【New Benchmark in Green Energy】Biomass Power Project Commences Operation: Processing 300,000 Tons of Agricultural Waste Annually, Reducing CO₂ by 150,000 Tons

2025/07/22 08:49

Amid accelerated progress toward dual-carbon goals, the Biomass Power Project, invested and constructed by Shandong Shenghe Electric Power Engineering Design Co., LTD , was officially grid-connected today. Utilizing internationally advanced high-temperature ultra-high-pressure circulating fluidized bed technology, the project generates 220 GWh of electricity and 400,000 GJ of thermal energy annually – equivalent to powering 50,000 households with clean energy – marking a new phase in regional agricultural and forestry waste utilization.

Three Breakthrough Innovations

1. Closed-Loop Circular Economy

  • Feedstock Radius ≤50 km: Collects 300,000 tons/year of agro-forestry waste from 200 surrounding villages, increasing farmers' income by ¥90 million

  • 100% Ash Utilization: Potassium/phosphorus-rich ash converted into 50,000 tons/year of organic fertilizer for farmland

  • Zero Liquid Discharge: Treated condensate recycled for cooling; high-concentration wastewater converted into biogas for power

2. Industry-Leading Energy Efficiency

Auxiliary Power8.7%12-15%↓30%

3. Carbon Reduction Financial Innovation

  • Issued first Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) credits (120,000 tCO₂e/year)

  • Signed long-term green power purchase agreement with EU company at ¥0.15/kWh premium

  • Secured low-interest loan from National Green Development Fund, reducing financing cost by 2.1%

Global Biomass Energy Surge

  • EU: Biomass share in power mix to reach 20% by 2030 (2023: 11%)

  • Southeast Asia: Thailand/Vietnam offer 15-year tax holidays for new projects

  • Technology Frontier: Denmark’s BWE develops biomass-hydrogen hybrid system achieving 45% efficiency

  • Project Highlights

  • 101% load rate during 72-hour continuous trial operation

  • Dioxin emissions <0.05 ng TEQ/Nm³ (EU limit: 0.1)

  • 50,000-acre energy forest base ensures sustainable feedstock
